A moment to reflect on the National Anthem

When’s the last time you really listened to the National Anthem?  When is the last time that you really thought about what it means and who it’s for?  I know we all hear that National Anthem before the game, but do we really listen? 

Please take a moment to watch the video of Buzz Williams, Virginia Tech’s men’s basketball coach, talking to his team about the National Anthem, its importance, and what he expects out of his team when the “Star Spangled Banner” plays before the game.  You can find that video link here. 

I’m going to take Coach Williams’ advice to heart, not only for myself but for the teams I coach.  I’ve always tried to stop what I’m doing when the National Anthem plays before the game, but I will make a point of taking that time to remember those who fought and died to make the game possible in the first place.  Great job by Coach Williams.
