Thankful for Thanksgiving
Now that Halloween season has come to an end, it is officially time for Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving always seems like it is the forgotten holiday. When I was growing up, this was one of the greatest holidays for my family. We would all get together (both sides of the family) and have a huge dinner with a kids table and all that happy stuff we all did before the internet and cell phones took over our lives. All of the cousins would sit at the kids table! We would eat, talk, and play board games or cards; it was so much fun back in the day. The fun began to end when we all started going off in different directions, like with dance, sports and life in general. Thanksgiving was one of the only holidays you never had to buy a present for the rest of the family, but everyone was there, and everyone wanted to be there. Instead of presents, we all brought food for the family to enjoy.
I think Thanksgiving is a holiday that is forgotten because we go straight from Halloween to Christmas. The department stores put it in our minds that after Halloween we need to buy Christmas decorations and such. With that being said, Thanksgiving gets pushed to the back of our minds and we start looking forward to Christmas. This year, we should all take time to remember Thanksgiving. Thank you to my family for making Thanksgiving the holiday that I always have and always will look forward to. Wishing you all a memorable and happy Thanksgiving season!
