National Nutrition Month

National Nutrition Month is celebrated every March and is sponsored by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. This is a month dedicated to helping people make correct food choices and help develop good eating and exercising habits.

It all began in 1973 when President Richard Nixon introduced Nutrition Week. By 1980 it transformed to cover the entire month of March. So don’t worry if you haven’t kept up with your New Year resolution to eat better and be more active, March is the perfect time to get a fresh start and revisit those goals.

The following are a few ways you can celebrate National Nutrition Month:

— Eat more fresh foods.

— Avoid fast food.

— Plant a garden.

— Choose whole grains.

— Try new foods.

— Take a cooking class.

— Go on daily walks.

— Try a new exercise.

— Establish a daily routine.

Enjoy National Nutrition Month. Do your best to eat well and stay active. Your mind and body will thank you!
