My Favorite Part of Summer – So Far

So far, my favorite part of summer has been my vacation to the Outer Banks. We go every year, and it’s something I really look forward to. I love the ocean, lying on the beach on my beach chair, playing in the water, finding seashells, and just relaxing. The ocean is absolutely my happy place! I was never meant to live inland. There’s something so soothing about sitting in my chair and looking out at the water. Also, the Outer Banks, while having a lot of tourists, does not have packed beaches. I also love that nearly everything closes in the evening. The silence, other than the waves crashing, is something you just must experience. If you have never been to the beach, you should think about visiting. High tide is amazing! The power of the water is phenomenal. It is just so beautiful and frightening at the same time.

You also don’t want to miss the fudge! Scotch Bonnet Fudge & Gifts is a must-visit. The fudge is so good. It just melts in your mouth. They also have so many flavors that it’s hard to choose. They also have other items for sale, such as jellies, preserves and every flavor of jellybean you can imagine. They also have jewelry and things of that nature. If you go down to Outer Banks, stop in Frisco and get some fudge. You won’t regret it!

I also can’t leave North Carolina without stopping at Duck Donuts. The donuts are hot when you get them, and they have so many toppings. It’s just amazing! My son’s favorite is maple bacon. I love the peanut butter icing and lemon ones. I would love the chocolate ones too, but chocolate makes me sick, so I must take a pass on those, even though they look delicious! That’s one of the last stops we make on the way home.

All-in-all, vacationing at the beach is my favorite thing so far this summer, but summer is not over just yet. There may be more favorites to come. Stay tuned.
