Keeping Cozy During Winter

Keeping Cozy During Winter

Now that Christmas 2019 is behind us, I am looking forward to the new year and what is in store for me and my family.  However, I find myself extremely missing the warm feeling of the twinkling lights, candles and other comfortable attributes that come with the holidays.  I packed my tree up in its bag and placed it in the corner of the basement where it will reside for the next eleven months, then walked back upstairs to my “bare” living room.  As I looked around, I decided I wasn’t yet ready to step into spring just yet.  We still have a few months of winter left and I needed to keep my home feeling cozy and warm.

Since I needed some inspiration, I went to Pinterest and saw many ideas on making the transition from Christmas decorating to “Winter” decorating.  Basically, the technique is keeping your winter themed items such as snowmen, snowflakes and tabletop snow flocked trees out on display.   Nature items such as pine garland and wreaths adorned with pinecones and cinnamon sticks make a wonderful winter landscape on a mantel or shelf.

I kept my pencil tree up and dressed it in white twinkle lights only. The red and green plaid throw blankets were replaced with soft winter white throws over the couch and armchair.  I purchased a small white deer statue on clearance which sits on my coffee table next to a rustic lantern.

So, if you are like me and have a hard time letting go of the holidays completely, be sure to check out the many decorating ideas to help keep your home cozy while bracing for the cold winter months ahead.
