Driving Mode: A Secret Weapon for Safe Driving
I recently stumbled upon a hidden gem on my iPhone that has completely changed the way I drive: Driving Mode. Driving Mode is a setting that automatically silences your iPhone when you’re driving. It’s designed to prevent distractions caused by incoming calls, texts, and notifications.
How to Activate Driving Mode
There are a few ways to activate Driving Mode:
1. Manually:
- Go to Settings > Do Not Disturb.
- Scroll down and toggle on “Driving Mode”.
- You can also choose to activate Driving Mode automatically when connected to your car’s Bluetooth.
2. Siri:
- Say, “Hey Siri, activate Driving Mode.” This can only be done once you have manually added Driving Mode to your device.
When you hop in the car, and Driving Mode is activated, your iPhone will:
- Silence calls and texts: Incoming calls and texts will be muted, and a notification will be sent to the caller or texter letting them know you’re driving.
- Pause notifications: App notifications will be paused, preventing them from appearing on your screen and distracting you.
- Respond to incoming calls: If you have a connected Bluetooth headset, you can answer incoming calls hands-free.
I’ve been using Driving Mode for a few weeks now, and I’m a big fan. It’s a simple yet effective tool that I highly recommend to anyone who drives.
If you have not tried Driving Mode, I encourage you to give it a try.
