Bucket List
Do you have a bucket list? I have one, and mine mostly consists of places I would like to go to since I love to travel. If you’re not quite sure what a bucket list is, it’s simply a list of things you would like to accomplish before you “kick the bucket”. I know that sounds a bit morbid, but it’s not meant to be. A bucket list is a list of goals you would like to accomplish during your lifetime. It could be places you’d like to visit, which I would encourage anyone to do while they are able and healthy enough to do so. Maybe your bucket list is more focused on developing good habits, such as eating healthier, losing weight, or exercising more—all good things to have on a bucket list. Your bucket list could also include improving your financial wealth in addition to your personal health—for instance cutting back on expenses and learning to save more money; or choosing to invest more of your money for the future. Your bucket list items may also include work-related goals, such as learning a new skill, mentoring a co-worker, or earning a promotion; or family-oriented goals as simple as spending more time with children and/or grandchildren. One thing on my bucket list was attending a Kenny Chesney concert, and I’m happy and excited to be able to cross that item off my list this coming May. Kenny has a song entitled “Somewhere in the Sun,” in which he sings about going to the Caribbean island of Jost Van Dyke and going to Foxy’s—a local hang-out. Well the song sounds pretty good to me, so I have a trip to the Caribbean island of Jost Van Dyke and Foxy’s on my list, which I hope to cross off in a couple of years. I think the terms “YOLO” (You Only Live Once) and “bucket list” go hand-in-hand. Don’t wait until “someday” to accomplish the items on your bucket list—start planning and crossing those items off of your list now, because life is short, “someday” may never come, and YOLO.
