It’s not about where you go, It’s about taking the time

It’s not about where you go, It’s about taking the time

It’s an exciting time of the year where people seem much more carefree and there’s a lot of talk about where people are going on vacation. For many, a beach getaway or a jaunt off to the Caribbean isn’t in the budget this year, next year, maybe for many years or ever.

To be blessed to be able to do these things is absolutely wonderful, but for those who can’t, it’s not about where you go, it’s about taking the time.

Summertime brings much more opportunity for family and friends to go out and about and get together.  There are so many simple things that end up as cherished memories and sometimes it’s the silliest experiences of all.

Bonfires and S’mores in the late night summer air.  Running through a sprinkler.  Water gun battles.  Sleeping out on the porch or pitching a tent.  A lot of cornhole and cooking out.  One of my favorite things to do is to sit on a glider having long talks or maybe listening to a summer thunderstorm.

I’ve done all these things and to this day, the now grown adults I know still talk about the memories from our childhood when we see each other.

So do not be discouraged if it doesn’t fit the budget.  So many spend the money when they shouldn’t just to find themselves miserable and worried about how they are going to pay for it after the fact.  When the time is right, it will be your turn.

In the meantime, take in every long walk, play games, have cookouts, go on bike rides and just spend the time together.  That’s where memories are made.  Whether it’s in your own backyard or on the sands of a beach, it’s the people you share it with and how you share it that’s going to matter.

Have a fun summer!
