Applause to Judge Mazzone

Applause to Judge Mazzone

I saw on the news that The Honorable James P. Mazzone placed a new sign on the door of one of the Ohio County Circuit Courtrooms.

I previously wrote a blog on this very subject because I have been in and out of so many courtrooms in Ohio and West Virginia throughout the course of my career and have seen more and more judges endorsing these signs out of basic necessity.

The parties that are having their cases heard before the Honorable Court should be given appropriate and dutiful attention to these very important matters and Judge Mazzone couldn’t have said it better when the news quoted him as saying:

"A lot of blood was shed to ensure the rights that these courtrooms were built to protect and I feel that the least we can do is show respect by dressing appropriately."

He also explained that the sign on the door is to save people the embarrassment of being lectured in front of the whole courtroom.

So, readers, please remember if this was your matter being before the Court, you, too, would want the same considerations from the judge, the lawyers, their staff and the jurors.  Let’s be mindful and honor the legal proceedings that were put in place by our great United States of America!
