Quick and Easy Christmas Desserts
There’s no doubt Christmas is the most magical, joyful and cheerful time of year. However, it surely does come with a lot of stress as well. If you’re like me, you always say, “Next year I am starting early!” But Christmas is only 12 days away and I still don’t have all my gifts bought or have all of the ones I do have bought wrapped. I’ve been getting takeout food just about every day because, let’s be honest, I haven’t had time to think let alone cook. I had no idea what I was making on Christmas day.
My only saving grace is my son who continues to show and remind me this is still “the most wonderful time of the year!” His eyes light up at the Christmas tree he redecorates every day, and he shouts in the car when he sees a house with Christmas lights up, just in complete awe. He even knows the words to most Christmas carols better than I do!
Christmas and get-togethers seem to be back to normal this year. But wasn’t it Spiderman who said with great power comes great responsibility? Well, same goes for the power of get-togethers because with great happiness comes great responsibility – the responsibility of bringing a dish. Again, if you are like me, I usually forget about these parties and get-togethers until that day or the day before. (OK, and sometimes the day after – sorry Mom!) Either way, here are some of my go-to, easy, cheap and quick holiday dips anyone can whip together before rushing out the door!
Hot Chocolate Dip:
1 13 oz. container of marshmallow fluff (I use the Kroger brand)
1 8 oz. container of Cool Whip
3 packs of instant hot chocolate mix
Small marshmallows (Optional)
1 box of graham crackers
Instructions:
Add your fluff and Cool Whip and mix together. Once you have them mixed, add your hot chocolate packs (again, I used three but you can use more or less). Once finished, I like to garnish the top with little marshmallows and even maybe a few Christmas sprinkles for presentation. Eat with graham crackers for a s’more-like dessert!
Funfetti Dip
1 8 oz. container of Cool Whip
1 24 oz. of Greek yogurt (calls for plain but I like to use vanilla flavor)
1 Box of Funfetti cake mix (I’m not a name brand snob but you have to use the Pillsbury)
1 box of animal cookies
Instructions:
Add your yogurt and Cool Whip and mix together. Once you have them mixed, add your whole box of Funfetti cake mix. Make sure to mix it all together really well. When finished, place in fridge for about 30 minutes. You can dip and eat with graham crackers, Nilla wafers or, my personal favorite, animal cookies.
