Practicing Safe Winter Driving

Winter is here, and we have been lucky not to have any heavy snowfall yet. For some, the snowy conditions are enjoyable, but for others, it can cause anxiety, especially when it comes time to hit the road.

It is always a good idea to be prepared for snowy and icy conditions; the following are some helpful tips for winter driving:

Check the weather conditions before you head out.

  • Drive slowly.
  • Keep your distance from drivers ahead of you.
  • Make sure your tires have plenty of tread.
  • Keep your gas tank at least half full.
  • Avoid using cruise control.
  • Keep an ice scraper in your vehicle.
  • Keep an extra coat, hat, and gloves in your vehicle in case you would break down.

Always be prepared this winter; you never know when that first snowfall may hit. Stay safe!
