Cheesy Potato Casserole

My favorite recipe in the entire world is cheesy potato casserole. This is my go-to for every family function because it is so good! If I need to bring a covered dish for any event, this is it because it is star quality. Once you try this, you will make it again and again because it is divine! I usually double this recipe because it goes fast. I also don’t add any more butter to the double batch. Usually, I never think too much butter is bad, but for this recipe it is. Trust me! The recipe is below.

1pint (2 cups) sour cream

1can (10 3/4 oz.) condensed cream of chicken soup

1/2cup butter, melted

1tablespoon garlic salt

1 tablespoon pepper

1cup chopped onions

1bag (30 oz.) frozen country-style hash brown potatoes, partially thawed

2cups shredded Cheddar cheese (8 oz.)

Bacon crumbles

Preheat your oven to 350°. Mix all the wet ingredients and seasonings so they are blended very well and then fold in the potatoes. You can use traditional hash browns if you want, but the little cubes work better. Place it all in a large baking dish and cover it with the shredded cheese. I also cover it with foil so the cheese doesn’t get too brown because I don’t like it that way. If you do, leave it uncovered. Bake for around an hour. While this is baking, fry the bacon until it’s at the consistency you like and drain it on paper towels. After the potatoes are done (yes, you have to taste test because baking times vary oven to oven), crumble the bacon over the top and there you go!

I hope everyone tries this recipe and discovers the wonders of cheesy potatoes! This dish is fantastic, and you won’t be sorry you gave it a try!
