Beat the Heat
The hot summer days that most of us have been hoping for are quickly on the way. It is looking like we will have record high temperatures in the upcoming forecast. Perfect time to lounge in the pool and relax!
With the potential for hotter temperatures, it’s important to stay cool and hydrated. Any time the heat and humidity are high, the risks of heat cramps and heat exhaustion are serious. When there’s record-breaking highs, heat stroke becomes a serious concern for anyone that is outside.
The following tips can help you keep cool all summer long.
-Drink electrolytes in addition to plenty of water.
-Limit caffeine and alcohol.
-Move outdoor work to the early morning or late evening.
-Wear light and loose-fitting clothes.
-Avoid being in the direct sun when the UV index is at its highest.
In addition to taking care of yourself, don’t forget about your pets! They are just as susceptible to heat-related illnesses. Limit their time outside during the day and add ice cubes to their water bowl to help keep them cool.
Enjoy your summer and stay safe!
