Even though Independence Day was yesterday, we still have a weekend full of celebrations and cookouts to attend. That being said, you’ll need something quick to throw together for your guests or to take with you! I’m a big fan of sweets, and I always like to make sure there is a dessert available to snack on after we eat.

The following is a simple recipe that I found online for Caramel Apple Dip. It doesn’t require many ingredients and I thought it would be perfect to try this weekend since it isn’t something that will sit heavy on your stomach, especially with this heat!

What You Need:

  • 6 tbsp. salted butter.
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar.
  • 3 tbsp. heavy cream.
  • 8 oz. cream cheese.
  • 1/4 cup chopped peanuts.
  • Apples of your choice.

How to Prepare:

  • Make the caramel: Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the brown sugar and heavy cream and bring to a simmer, stirring. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer gently until the sugar is dissolved and the caramel is bubbly about 4 minutes. Remove from the heat and set aside to cool slightly, 15 to 20 minutes.
  • When the caramel is warm, beat the cream cheese in a large bowl with a mixer on medium speed until smooth and fluffy. Beat in three-quarters of the caramel until incorporated. Spoon into a serving bowl.
  • Microwave the remaining caramel until pourable, then pour over the dip. Sprinkle with the peanuts. Serve immediately with the sliced apples or refrigerate for up to 4 hours.

I hope you enjoy the remainder of the weekend and spend time with family and friends!
