Bingo’s Birthday Month

BINGO! The word that declares victory during an exciting game of Bingo. Whether it’s a classic game or a coverall, Bingo is a beloved game enjoyed by people of all ages. But did you know that Bingo has a birthday month? That’s right, December is officially recognized as Bingo’s Birthday Month!

But where did the game come from? According to the National Day Calendar’s website, Bingo can be traced all the way back to 1530 in Italy. The game made its way to the United States in 1929. The cold weather keeping everyone inside in December makes it a perfect time to gather with friends and family for a fun filled game.

While Bingo is typically played with numbers, I appreciate a nice switch-up and like to play it with trivia questions where the board has answers, and you get to mark the answer to the question if you have it. Another part I enjoy about the game is getting creative with the markers for the card. You can use the stampers, the plastic chips, pieces of paper, and my favorite from grade school, M&Ms.

We all want to be the lucky person who shouts “BINGO,” but if that doesn’t happen, you can still have fun and enjoy the game!
