The More Things Change, the More They Stay the Same...

I am one of two legal interns at Bordas & Bordas this summer hailing from Notre Dame Law School in South Bend, Indiana. As Jamboree in the Hills approaches, I thought it would be appropriate to describe my first month in the Ohio Valley by quoting Kenny Chesney, a three-time Jamboree performer, in his song "Summertime." As Kenny says, "The more things change, the more they stay the same." I began my position this summer excited both for the opportunity to assist our clients with their legal issues and also for the opportunity to develop as an aspiring attorney at Bordas & Bordas. However, I was unsure how my life outside of work would change as a new resident of Wheeling, West Virginia.

When I am not working or in school, any of my close friends or family would likely tell you that I am probably playing sports, spending time with those important to me or eating, and my first month in the Ohio Valley has been no different. During my second week in town, I received the opportunity to play in the second annual Glen Dale Park Classic, an annual 3 on 3 basketball tournament that is organized with the goal of raising money to improve Glen Dale Park. The tournament was a lot of fun, and I have continued to go to Glen Dale every week since to play basketball at John Marshall High School and outside at the park. Unfortunately, sticking with the Kenny Chesney theme, my ability to play golf, or lack thereof, has not changed.

In addition to playing sports, I have enjoyed the opportunity to try new salad.jpgrestaurants and food around Wheeling. I would like to credit Jay Stoneking for introducing me to my favorite new dish, a steak salad with french fries on top. At lunch today, Jay and I actually debated who has the best steak salad in town. I've also enjoyed attending the buffalo wing cook off at Centre Market and am looking forward to the Italian Festival in July.

Finally, I am excited to spend time with my close friends and family who will be staying with me for Independence Day, my birthday on the fifth of July and Jamboree (don't forget to register online for a chance to win the Bordas & Bordas Jamboree in the Hills Ultimate Fan Experience package). We will be going to Pittsburgh for a Pirates' game on the Fourth and enjoying the sun at Wheeling Park's pool on the weekend. If anyone has any recommendations for things we should do, make sure to leave a comment for me below!
